We found these two books to be very DIFFERENT.
The first book we read was Extra Yarn, a narrative story. The second book we read was Z is for... Moose, which was a post modern type of expository book.
The class liked Z is for...Moose better than Extra . It was a funny story that was very silly, with the main character a moose interfering on almost all the pages. The story also had a great moral which taught us an important lesson about being patient and waiting our turn. In the book the moose, couldn't wait for his alphabet page and kept trying to go on the other pages too.
Although we really liked Extra Yarn too! The vote was very close!
The second thing we liked about Z is for...Moose was the actual text. The actual text played an important role. The font of the alphabet letter was larger and a different colour then the rest of the sentence. This made us pay attention to each letter. The illustrations were bright and colourful drawings that made the story interesting.
Z is for ... Moose sounds like so much fun! Thanks for sharing.
