Opinion

Is There a Dog in This Book won the Smackdown with a vote of 5/6. One of the reasons we chose this book because it inspired us with ideas for creating our own narrative story.  This book was special because it was told from the perspective of a dog and different cats.   The questions we were wondering when we read this book was how was the little cat be more brave then the big cat? We also liked this book because of the illustrations that Viviane Schwarz drew.  She used bright colours and expression on their faces to show what the animals were feeling.  We liked the book because it was funny and we loved the many flaps there were to open. We wondered what was going to be in the flaps. If you like to open up flaps then this is the book for you!

This story is about a new Elementary school and it is called,  FREDRICK Douglass  ELEMENTARY.That day was the day before school stated.the school had a very best friend named janitor.the janitor said ,the kids will arrive tomorrow,some kids will like you and some will love you. Some won't like you and some will hate you.But very little will hate you.some kid won't like to go to school but evenly that kid will want to go to school every day.there will always be some smart kids and bullies . teacher will always give them there medicine . the next day the children loved the school and had a best day ever.

The vote was 2/3. We choose My Teacher is a Monster because of the image and how there are speech bubbles .  My favourite part was the last paper plane that was his test . We choose this book because we know this book is about friend ship. I choose this book because it is funny to me and it is the best.

Summary of The Uncorker of Ocean Bottles
The story is about a man that lives by the ocean , he lives alone with one big tree for shade. But since the Uncorker job is to find bottled letters that float around close by his home and gets it and reads it  and delivers it to the owner.He met lots of different people that there letters made them happy.The man loved his job but wished to get a letter with his name on it .One day he found a bottle and was reading it ,it was a invation and he did not know who it was for so he dock and asked the people on the dock if it was for them but he can not find the person is belongs to. When he was about to fall a sleep he and decided to go to the party.When he went to party he saw all of the asked at the dock.And the poeple that he asked made a party for him,but who know what will happen to the Uncorker  next.





Voices In The Park-Anthony Browne
This is a story that takes place in a big park in the middle of a city. It is written from the 2 different perspectives of the families who meet each other in the park. The main characters are Smudge and Charles, part of a gorilla families, that act like humans. The mom is very grumpy and doesn't like her dog or son to have fun or talk to others in the park.  The dad of the other family also takes his son and dog to the park. They meet the other family and we learn the perspective of each one and how they view the other people.

The Uncorker of Bottles won the Smackdown with a vote of 4/4. We liked that it was the main characters birthday at the end of the book.  We also really enjoyed the illustrations because the author used many different shades of colours to bring his pictures to life.  Our tribe really liked the main characters job of solving the mystery of who had sent the different bottles & messages into the ocean.  It was interesting how the Uncorker was lonely and wished for a letter for himself, so he could find friends.  You would like this book if you like to read stories with a little mystery that the reader has to solve.

The characters in this book are Florence the yellow bird and a giraffe named Shy.A giraffe named Shy loved reading books about birds.But, he had never seen a bird in front of his eyes.Then one day a bird named Florence, appeared in front of The giraffe.He wanted to follow the bird but he had never left home because of danger.He followed the bird and then at night he lost track of the bird.But Shy got home.The next day he was reading a book about birds and he heard the bird and Florence was there.They became best friends.

Finding Winnie - Lindsay Mattick 

This is a story about a true bear named Winnie.A man named Harry brought him from a man for $20 at White River.He took him to the 
army with him.They became best friends.Harry had a war that Winnie could not go to world war 1 so Harry dropped him to the zoo.  Harry had  a boy his boy had a girl when she grew she had a girl named Lindsay Mattick who wrote the book.

 Opinion

Finding Winnie won the Smackdown 4/4.We chose finding Winnie because we loved the book because it was a true story.The illustrations were inspired by the real pictures of the Bear. We also loved how much Harry loved and cared for Winnie.We liked how so many people loved that they made  books with a character named Winnie the Pooh. It was our favourite story book even though we love SHY.

Her  dad always has to leave every single time. Louise was furious so she threw herself in the river. But Louise's father travels so he couldn't do anything about it. But when she followed the river it leaded to Paris. She made sculptures of spiders and called it mama.

Opinion:
We chose Cloth lullaby because of how Amy Novesky put the action so emotional and how thoughtful we should be to our self
And that the pictures represent the writing piece. She  shows motion and body language. The illustrator Isabelle Arsenal 
gives good details and gives clues even before you read the
book.

Ada tries to convince her parents to let her do her experiments and go on with dreams but her parents say STOP!.but she keeps going and then one day she smells a stinky smell and then she get's to work.she starts to research in her house.and she starts to make predictions and she tested on her cat.but right on time her parents yelled STOP!.then they started studying about science and then they let her go on with her passion of science.

This book is about a bird who gets called nerdy birdy because every one thinks he is a nerd and the other birds think their cool birds. But another nerdy birdy came and said you feel lonely come and join us but the others said theirs not enough for you to be her.So nerdy birdy went but a nerdy birdy cam and said come a stay with us.

Nerdy Birdy won the smack down with a vote of 3/3.
We chose Nerdy Birdy because we loved it when he was lonely. But he found other nerdy birdy's to have friends but they said you cant join us because theirs not enough room for you to stay here. So nerdy birdy went home but after a while they said actually come and stay with us.  There is a new bird which is a ostrich who became his best friend. Then nerdy birdy asked if ostrich can join the group. But Nerdy birdy's friend's didn't let the ostrich be in there group so ostrich and nerdy birdy lived together.

Summary Last Stop On Market Street by Matt De La Pena.
There is a boy named CJ with his Nana.  They go to the bus stop and wait for the bus.  They get in the bus and the bus driver pulls something out of his ear.  It is a coin,when they get to the back they meet a blind man and his doggy.  Then the blind man talks to the Nana and Nana said to CJ to ask the man to play you a song on his guitar but he was already playing.  CJ dropped the coin into the guys hat.They got off at the last stop on market street and said "goodbye!" to the bus driver.  Nana & CJ saw a perfect rainbow over their soup kitchen They were glad to meet everyone.  

Summary Quest by Aaron Becker.  

In the city, the boy & girl meet the master of the orange crayon, & they then soon realised there were even more crayons!  Orange, yellow, green, & blue too!  The green crayon is in a jungle temple. The blue crayon is on a snowy mountain and the yellow crayon is under water ruin.  Then, the bird grabs the belt and sprays the rainbow color's on the samurais! The samurais turned into soldiers! Then they turned into king & queen of the castle!  

Opinion:

Quest won the Smackdown with a vote of 4\4.  we chose Quest because it introduces some new colors and add the boy to the whole book.  We love the illustrations that Aaron Becker created for this book we also love the adventure and pictures about this book.  so that's why we voted for Quest.
